At the beginning of the year (2020), our account team increased further, so Welcome Helen! Helen Mole is our Senior Account Executive who sat down Emily to discuss what her early months had been like at Vision One.
For those who don't know Helen, Helen has a passion for travel after gaining a diploma in Air Cabin Crew and living in New Zealand and Australia for several years she returned to the UK to explore a new industry. Interesting fact about Helen, In February 2019 she was diagnosed with Coeliac disease and had to completely change her eating habits to gluten free foods. Whilst eating out, or party buffets can be tricky, Helen is fortunate to be a good cook.
After working in logistics, what interested you in a career in Market Research?
I was looking for a change of direction in my career from logistics and found it in market research as a new and interesting career to leap into. I enjoy the study of data and analytics and am fascinated by the way research can be used to overcome challenges in business. Both aspects of quantitative and qualitative research is interesting to me.
Although you’ve been with us a short time. Has there been any projects that you’ve found interesting?
I’m very fortunate to be able to see all projects and enquiries that come in to and see the variety of interesting business ventures and opportunities that people are looking to explore or improve. At the moment I am working on a couple of opportunities including a training school looking to open a new campus in New York and a Malaysian fast food chain looking to expand in the UK.
What has surprised you about the job in the first 30 days?
I know a lot more about research than I realised! Coming into a new role in a new industry and having to adapt to how fast paced moving the business is can be hard to quickly adapt to but I’m fortunate to have had an understanding of the various aspects of research that I can develop.
What is your personal ambition for the coming months?
Although I knew more about research than i realised, I am looking forward to gaining a greater understanding of market research and what exactly customers are looking for to match their research needs so I can be better at my job and get to the root of what every client wants and how i can fulfill all their business needs by providing as much insight into what Vision One does.
Any book recommendations?
Why Men Don’t Listen & Women Can’t Read Maps, by Allan Pease and Barbara Pease
It’s an interesting read about how men and women are programmed very differently. When we are born our values, cultures and rules are already installed in our biology. It is quite repetitive and sometimes far fetched - but it was a fun read!
