Vision One’s very own Duncan Swan believes that “Liverpool is a place that combines a rich past along with a bright future”… and all the market research statistics make us believe he’s right!
Liverpool started off as a tidal pool next to the Mersey. Its growth was largely brought about by the city’s status as a major port, which was founded by King John in 1207. It was made a city in 1880, and by 1901 the population had reached 685,000. By mid-20th century much of the city’s traditional industries went into decline. In the 1960’s it was the centre of the ‘Mersey beat‘ sound, which became synonymous with The Beatles and tourism then began to flourish!
The history of the city makes it a seamless destination for anybody looking to explore England’s vast cultural heritage and it is a dynamic city where there are plenty of pubs and inns and also festivals along with exhibitions at any time of the year.
Liverpool is home to the Beatles and with its fabulous waterfront, the Three Graces and Albert Docks, its stunning array of museums, two very different cathedrals, two famous football clubs, unparalleled shopping centres and five theatres – Liverpool is certainly on the rise to being a city of vibrancy and delight.
