Free Brand Tracking: Your Brand Health Check
Secure your free brand health check today
A free brand health check is a one-wave brand tracking survey run by Vision One among a snapshot of UK adults. It shows where your brand stands on awareness, usage, magnetism, momentum, Brand Love, fame and brand health, compared with our norms, so you can decide whether continuous brand tracking is worth it before you commit.
A strong brand attracts customers and builds trust and loyalty. But how do you know whether your brand is healthy and heading in the right direction?
What is a free brand health check?
Most brands are managed on sales data and instinct. Sales tell you what happened last quarter; they do not tell you how many people know your brand, whether they would consider it, or whether it is seen to be growing or fading. A brand health check answers those questions with a short, representative survey, using the same questions and metrics as Vision One brand tracking.
The free version is a single wave: one questionnaire, one UK sample, one report. It is built for brands that have never tracked before, or that want to see what a tracker would tell them before they commit budget. If you have been searching for a brand health checker or a free brand tracking tool, this is the research version: real respondents and a researcher’s reading of the results, not a scoring widget. For the background first, download our free brand tracking guide, a 26-page introduction to what to measure and how often.
We know that many businesses do not have the time, the budget or the in-house expertise to run a brand health check, and some are unsure what they would do with the results. Competition is increasing and consumer preferences change quickly, so it has never been more important to know whether your brand is communicating effectively and resonating with the people you need to reach.
That is why, subject to terms and availability, we give you the chance to measure your brand’s performance among a snapshot of the UK population, free of charge, and keep your finger on the pulse.
What does the free brand health check measure?
As part of the free brand health check, we design a brief questionnaire that evaluates your brand on the core brand equity measurement metrics behind BrandVision, covering awareness, interest, trust, quality and more.
These metrics come from the Brand Equity Wheel, Vision One’s model of how brands grow. Together they show your brand’s identity, strengths and weaknesses, and the one measure that matters most for growth: whether the market thinks you are moving forward. The free check reports:
- Brand awareness: prompted awareness and logo awareness, the share of UK adults who recognise your brand when prompted.
- Usage: how many people have bought or used your brand, the base every other score is read against.
- Magnetism: the attractiveness of your brand. Magnetic brands find that consumers respond more readily to their messaging and products.
- Momentum: whether the market sees your brand as growing, standing still or declining, the earliest signal of future sales.
- Brand Love: the three metrics behind the consumer-brand relationship. Not a fluffy measure, but the core of loyalty and recommendation.
- Brand Fame: whether consumers see your brand as a leader, as different, or as characterless.
- Brand health: eight image attributes that explain the scores above: ethical, identity, noise, newsworthy, outstanding, variety, accessible and on trend.
You also get one question of your own, for example to define your target market or test a claim. Further questions can be added for a fee.
How the free brand health check works
The process is designed to take as little of your time as possible. There are four steps:
- Tell us about your brand. Complete the enquiry form or book a call below. We confirm eligibility, your category and the competitors you would like to be compared with.
- We design the questionnaire. A short survey built on the BrandVision metrics above, plus your one free question. You approve it before it goes live.
- We run the survey. Fieldwork is online among a snapshot of the UK adult population, conducted to the MRS Code of Conduct and our ISO 20252 quality process, the same standards as every Vision One study.
- You get the report. A short slide deck with your scores, our norms for comparison and a researcher’s interpretation of what they mean, so you know what to do next.
Timing depends on fieldwork availability; we confirm dates when we confirm your place. There is no obligation to continue, although most brands that see their first set of numbers want to know what happens next.
When to move from a free health check to full brand tracking
A single wave tells you where you stand. It cannot tell you which way you are moving, and movement is what brand tracking is for. A tracker repeats the same questions with the same kind of sample at regular intervals, so each wave can be compared with the last and the effect of campaigns, launches and competitor activity can be read in the numbers. The case is well made in Marketing Week’s case for brand tracking: once you can see the trend, you do not go back to guessing.
Move to continuous brand health tracking when any of these apply: you are spending on advertising and need to know whether it is shifting perception; you are launching, repositioning or entering a new market; a competitor is gaining ground; or the board is asking for brand KPIs it can trust. Waves run monthly, quarterly or annually, matched to your media spend and category, and a first UK brand tracker with Vision One starts from around £8,000, quoted fixed before work begins.
If you are not sure, the free check is the cheapest way to find out. Brands that see a weak momentum or Brand Love score usually have a clear reason to track; brands that score well have a baseline to protect. See how one travel brand used tracking to guide its growth decisions in our Culture Trip brand tracking case study.

Free brand tracking: your questions answered
What is a free brand health check?
A free brand health check is a single wave of brand tracking: a short survey among a snapshot of UK adults that measures awareness, usage, magnetism, momentum, Brand Love, fame and brand health for your brand, reported against Vision One’s norms. It gives you a first set of brand KPIs, and a researcher’s reading of them, before you commit to a full tracker.
Are there free brand tracking or brand monitoring trials I can test?
Yes. Vision One’s free brand health check is a free trial of brand tracking for UK consumer brands, subject to terms and availability. It is a real survey with real respondents, not a software demo: one wave, one UK sample and a short report comparing your brand with our norms. B2B and international brands get a 25 per cent discount on a first paid wave instead.
What metrics will I get?
Prompted awareness, logo awareness, usage, Magnetism, Momentum, Brand Love (three metrics), Brand Fame and the eight brand health attributes, plus one ad hoc question of your choice to help define your target market. Further questions can be added for a fee, typically £250 per question depending on its type. Every metric is compared with our norms.
Can I add competitor brands as well as my own?
Yes. You can add up to seven further brands to your report and analysis for £1,000 plus VAT per brand. Benchmark brands are measured on the same metrics as your own, so you can see where you lead and where you trail. Choose the competitors your customers actually compare you with, not the ones you would like to be compared with.
What outputs will I get?
A short report of around 15 pages: a slide deck with your brand’s metrics and a basic interpretation, compared with our norms using the norms insight bar. If more than 100 respondents are aware of your brand, you also receive profile and segment analysis, and any benchmark brands you have paid for are added to the same report.
What if I am a B2B or international business?
Because B2B and international studies need specific audiences or countries, we cannot offer a free wave of brand tracking in those cases. Instead we offer a 25 per cent discount on the first wave of a paid tracker, designed for your business decision-makers or for the markets you sell in, with the same BrandVision metrics and reporting.
Is a free brand health check enough for a growing brand?
No. One wave tells you where you stand; it cannot tell you which way you are moving or whether your marketing is working. A growing brand needs the same questions repeated at regular intervals so that change can be measured. Use the free check as your baseline, then move to full brand tracking when you are spending on advertising, launching, or facing a strong competitor.
