Alan George
Insight Manager
Alan George is an experienced consumer insight professional who combines research expertise, data analysis and behavioural thinking to help organisations understand their customers and make better business decisions.
As an Insight Manager at Vision One, Alan leads complex research programmes across a range of sectors, bringing together qualitative and quantitative approaches to answer strategic business questions. His experience spans consumer research, brand tracking, new product development, concept testing, segmentation and behavioural insight.
Alan is particularly skilled at taking complex evidence and turning it into a clear, compelling story, helping clients understand not just what is happening, but what it means and what they should do next.
What Alan Brings to Vision One
Alan brings together research expertise, analytical capability and commercial curiosity.
He is comfortable working across complex datasets, qualitative conversations and strategic business challenges, and is particularly interested in finding the connections between them.
Whether the challenge is understanding a brand’s position, testing a new proposition, exploring consumer behaviour or evaluating an innovation, Alan’s role is to make the evidence useful.
He believes the best research should leave a client with greater clarity, better questions and a clear direction for what to do next.
As an Insight Manager at Vision One, Alan works closely with clients and research teams to deliver insight that informs strategy, strengthens consumer engagement and supports growth.

Behavioural Thinking
One of Alan’s particular areas of interest is behavioural economics and psychology.
He uses behavioural principles to explore why consumers make the choices they do and to assess new products, services and propositions—not simply whether people say they like an idea, but what might influence whether they would actually engage with it.
This is particularly valuable when clients are developing something new or trying to understand the gap between what consumers say and what they ultimately do.
At Vision One, Alan has applied behavioural science and psychology principles to concept and innovation research, helping clients assess desirability, feasibility and positioning before taking ideas to market.
From Data to Decisions
Alan has a strong technical understanding of research data and is highly proficient in tools including Q, DisplayR, Forsta Visualisation and Qualtrics.
But his strength is not simply in manipulating data.
He is particularly focused on finding the patterns and stories within the data and communicating them in a way that people can understand and act upon.
He develops dashboards, automated reporting and visual presentations, while also presenting findings and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders across different sectors.
His approach is about moving clients from:
Data → Insight → Understanding → Action
Commercial Perspective
Alan’s experience outside traditional research environments has given him a strong appreciation of the commercial pressures facing brands.
At Everton Football Club, for example, he worked closely with design, campaigns and data teams and used insight to improve fan engagement, support digital marketing activity and assess campaign performance. He also helped establish an insight-led culture within the organisation.
Earlier roles in account management and customer-facing positions have also given Alan first-hand experience of customer relationships, commercial targets and the importance of understanding individual needs.
This means he approaches research with an appreciation that insight needs to work in the real world.
Outside work
Alan recently got married, and was kind enough to invite the whole Vision One Research team. He is a real team player and people person. We were delighted to share in his nuptials.
Alan is a big Everton fan and we know it must have been hard for him to leave his previous role at Everton Football Club, which further proves our value of him within Vision One. He still has connections there which is very handy for our Everton fans in the office. We have had a few trips now to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
We recently had a chat with Alan to find out how her time at Vision One has been since joining in 2024. So if you would like to find out more about Alan you can do so by reading a few Q&A’s below.
“So what do you most enjoy about being part of Vision One?”
What I really enjoy about insight is getting underneath the numbers and understanding what’s actually driving people’s decisions. At Vision One, I’m surrounded by a team that’s genuinely curious, open to new ideas and committed to doing research properly. There’s a great balance between getting into the detail and keeping sight of the bigger picture — and I love being able to turn that understanding into something that genuinely helps our clients move forward.”
I’ve always been interested in the link between people, data and what makes businesses succeed.
I joined Vision One in 2024 as a Senior Insight Executive and progressed to Insight Manager in 2026. Since joining, I’ve worked across a wide range of research projects, managing them from start to finish and working closely with clients to make sure the research answers the real business question—not just the question on the research brief.
Before Vision One, I spent just over two years working in insight at Everton Football Club. It was a great opportunity to see how research and data can make a real difference in a fast-moving, highly competitive environment. I worked across areas including fan engagement, CRM, digital marketing and campaign performance, as well as managing both qualitative and quantitative research projects.
That experience really shaped how I approach insight today. Good research shouldn’t just give you more data—it should help you understand what people are doing, why they’re doing it, and what that means for the business.
That’s what I enjoy most about my role at Vision One: taking the evidence, finding the story within it and helping clients turn that into something they can actually use.
Curiosity, empathy and collaboration. The best research starts with asking the right questions, listening carefully and working closely with clients to ensure the outcomes are practical, meaningful and aligned to their goals.
Living in Australia broadened my perspective and strengthened my appreciation for different cultures and ways of thinking — something that naturally feeds into my research approach. Outside of work, I enjoy travel, film and creative writing, all of which keep my curiosity alive and inspire fresh ways of seeing the world.
