Trying to sell a house and have a specific market in mind? Then this latest piece of business-to-business market research [link] should be of interest to estate agents and surveyors – the gender differences for homebuyers have just this month been revealed.
According to Santander Mortgages [link], men base their decisions on location, considering public transport, green space and proximity to work. Women, meanwhile, appear to be on the lookout for a property with lots of interior space, with almost one in three citing this as a priority. A further 15 per cent said they would also like access to some private outdoor space.
However, what both sexes can agree on is just how important it is to be somewhere where there is a strong broadband connection.
“The research shows distinct differences when it comes to what women want versus their male counterparts. Men are most interested in what they can do and where they can go outside the home, whereas women are more concerned with the bricks, mortar and space within,” head of business development with the group Graham Sellar said.
If you’re keen to make a sale, paying close attention to these nuances could make a real difference. Take a look at the property and the surrounding area, and decide how best to market the house based on this information. Knowing your target market and who is most likely to buy the house in question will make it easier to work out what information to highlight in particular.
